White-throated Laughingthrush

Posted on Updated on

Garrulax albogularis
Nepali Name: सोइरने तोरीगाँडा Soirane Torigada

1. Lives in gangs that do not break up even during the breeding season.
2. One of the most common laughingthrush in the Kathmandu Valley along with the White-crested Laughingthrush and Striated Laughingthrush. The three species overlap in so many places that I wonder if there isn’t some differences in their preferred habitat?
3. Just like the other Laughingthrushes are the gangsters of Himalaya forests.

Do you love birds and trekking? One of our co-founders of this blog has made a trekking app that shows which bird can be found where along certain trekking regions. The app has redefined what a guidebook or a field book can achieve. It shows information on birds, flowers, animals and butterflies in a context sensitive manner. This means that such flora and fauna is attached only to places where they can be seen and are only shown when they can be seen. Find out more.
